RECORDER REPORT

PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said grievances of the tribal people should be redressed and uplift activities should be initiated in FATA to remove the uncertainty of tribal people.

He said this while addressing public gathering at Gujrat District Mardan on Sunday.

He said the people of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) rendered meritorious sacrifices in the fight against terrorism; however their sacrifices had not been valued accordingly. QWP chairman lauded the statement of Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa about removal of check posts and addressing the other core issues.

Sherpao expressed satisfaction over the extension of the jurisdiction of superior court to FATA.

QWP chairman said it had been delayed, however even than it would be helpful to mitigate suffering of the people. He said QWP had struggled for the last several years to merge the Fata with KP and to bring tribal people in the mainstream, however it was unnecessarily delayed.

He demanded the merger of Fata with KP and the representation of Fata in the provincial assembly should be done to overcome their problems. He said the provision of justice in the killing of Nqeebullah Mahsud should be made sure and the allegedly involved accused Rao Anwar should be brought to justice to address the grievances of the family who had suffered. He said by calling Rao Anawar a ‘brave boy’ by PPP leadership had brought uncertainty and increased the reservations.

Aftab Sherpao condemned the barbaric Syria attacks and stressed the need to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity. He said before in Kunduz and now in Syria many innocent Muslims were killed.

Sherpao said nobody should celebrate the lifetime disqualification of Nawaz Sharif as the court decision was expected one. He said the people of Pakistan should decide the future of the country through power of vote. The QWP chief asked the politicians to play their role in averting instability.

He said the unequal distribution of resources would further increase the sense of growing deprivation among the smaller units. He said we want full implementation of the 18th amendment in its true colours and spirits and warned that QWP would strongly resist any change in 18th amendment.

Sherpao said good relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan have vital significance for the regional security and fight against terrorism. He said both countries should touch upon cooperation and firm resolve to eradicate the unrest on both sides of the border.

He also came down hard on the PTI led government that it failed to deliver and in fulfilling its promises with the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He called the PTI provincial led as opportunist as they started the development projects when the polls are ahead. He termed Imran Khan a liar who before said that they will not accept any foreign loan and now they had sunk the province people into the sea of heavy loans which they would be left as gift of burden for the next government.

Aftab Sherpao said that QWP is the staunchest supporter of the Pakhtoons’ rights in the country.
