KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 207,295 tonnes of cargo comprising 142,600 tonnes of import cargo and 64,695 tonnes of export cargo including 2,448 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 142,600 tonnes comprised of 30,398 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,201 tonnes of bulk cargo; 57,460 tonnes of coal and 52,541 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 64,695 tonnes comprised of 21,807 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,608 tonnes of bulk cargo; 22,771 tonnes of wheat; 8,135 tonnes of wheat (Gandum) and 10,374 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 2,448 containers comprising of 1,657 containers import and 791 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 465 of 20’s and 449 of 40’s loaded while 04 of 20’s and 145 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 195 of 20’s and 226 of 40’s loaded containers while 104 of 20’s and 20 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were nine ships namely Northern Discovery, MSC Positano, MOL Eminence, High Challenge, Dae Won, AC-D, Sand Piper, Calypso and Nymph carrying containers, oil tankers, molasses and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were eleven vessels viz. Express Black Sea, Libra, Kota Lambang, Dae Won, FPMC A Glory, Silver Joan, Ultra Dynamic, AC-D, Nymph, Wooyang Hermes and Rickmers Hamburg carrying containers, oil tankers, coal, molasses and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 146,441 tonnes comprising 94,647 tonnes of import cargo and 51,794 tonnes of export cargo including 3,389 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 94,647 tonnes includes 4,155 tonnes of LPG; 17,650 tonnes of palm oil; 49,495 tonnes of coal; 9,250 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 1,500 tonnes of bitumen and 12,597 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 51,794 tonnes includes 51,794 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,389 containers comprising of 663 containers import and 2,726 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There were three ships namely CV MS Tiger, CV Nicoline Maersk and MV High Gate carrying containers and general cargo sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely MV Endeavour Strait and MT White Purl carrying coal and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of eleven vessels viz. CV MS Tiger, CV Nicoline Maersk, CV CMA CGM Narmada, MV Daytona Beach, MV Asma, MV Ocean Prelate, MV Endeavour Strait, MV High Gate, MV Ruby Star, MT White Purl and MT Horizon were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, bitumen, soyabean seeds, coal, LPG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as fourteen ships namely CV MSC Esthi, CV MSC Haidi, MV Sakizaya Champion, MV Crimson Empress, MV Zhen Bang, MV Free State, MV Vindo Nissa, MV Lowland Amstel, MV SC Tianjin, MV TRF Bergen, MV African Hotn Bill, MT Maria-III, MT Glorious and MT UACC Ibn Al-Hajiham carrying containers, soyabean, canola seeds, coal, chemical, cement, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six vessels viz. CV MSC Esthi, CV Express Black Sea, MV Lowland Amstel, MV Sakizaya Champion and MT Cliper Helen carrying containers, coal, soyabean and LPG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grain & Fertilizer Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Monday.
