HYDERABAD: SU Spokesperson in his statement has categorically denied rumours aired on some private electronic and other social media channels with regards to neglecting of Urdu language at the varsity, saying it must have been a consequence of some gross misunderstanding.

The spokesperson further said that SU could never bring itself to even think of ignoring national language “that is our pride”, adding that the University has been having full-fledged Urdu Department since its inception offering undergraduate to doctoral degrees in Urdu language and literature.

The spokesperson also added that the proceedings of the important national days like 23rd March, 14th August and 6th September are also carried out in Urdu language, besides all the signboards at the University also bore English, Urdu and Sindhi lettering simultaneously.

“University of Sindh does not, for whatever reasons, discriminate on linguistic grounds whatsoever. All languages are accorded honour and respect they deserve. Currently, 32000 students belonging to various ethnic arteries and speaking different languages are pursuing higher studies at the campus amid complete cultural peace and harmony”, the spokesperson said.
