KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 189,326 tonnes of cargo comprising 144,334 tonnes of import cargo and 44,992 tonnes of export cargo including 8,356 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 144,334 tonnes comprised of 71,277 tonnes of containerised cargo; 10,523 tonnes of bulk cargo; 35,534 tonnes of coal and 27,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 44,992 tonnes comprised of 39,358 tonnes of containerised cargo; 284 tonnes of bulk cargo and 5,350 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 8,356 containers comprising of 4,423 containers import and 3,933 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 2,231 of 20’s and 1,096 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and nil of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 856 of 20’s and 343 of 40’s loaded containers while 585 of 20’s and 903 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were eight ships namely Cosco Fukuyama, JPO Atair, Navios Unison, YM Miranda, Diva, Sofie Victory, Blue Bird and Akij Heritage carrying containers, chemical, coal, mogas and clinker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were six vessels viz. CMA CGM Fidelio, SM Vancouver, Aquarius, MT Quetta, Everrich-7 and Glovis Maestro carrying containers, oil tankers and coal respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 194,977 tonnes comprising 172,044 tonnes of import cargo and 22,933 tonnes of export cargo including 3,716 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday.

The total import cargo of 172,044 tonnes includes 27,000 tonnes of diesel oil; 6,500 tonnes of palm oil; 28,173 tonnes of coal; 10,500 tonnes of canola seeds; 52,200 tonnes of LNG and 47,671 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 22,933 tonnes includes 22,933 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 3,716 containers comprising of 2,509 containers import and 1,207 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.

There was one ship namely MT JO Pinari carrying diesel oil sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three ships namely CV Gulf Bridge, CV Teno and MV Ocean Enterprise carrying containers and coal respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Gulf Bridge, CV Teno, MV Flag Zannis, MV Ocean Enterprise, MV Ikan Salmon, MV IVS Swinley Forest, MT LNG Simaisma, MT JO Pinari and MT Gao Cheng-3 were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, canola seeds, coal, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as thirteen ships namely CV Songa Calabria, MV Sun Shine, MV Alora, MV Diva, MV Lowland Future, MV Inter Republic, MT Maria-III, MT Pike, MT Glorious, MT Meltemi, MT Yu Fu, MT Chemroad Wing and MT Horizon carrying containers, barges/boats, soyabean, coal, chemical, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five vessels viz. CV Songa Calabria, CV Safmarine Nyassa, MV Ultra Gujrat, MV Inter Republic and MT Horizon carrying containers, coal, chemical and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore and Coal Berth, Engro Vopak Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Friday.

There were three ships namely CV CMA CGM Fidelo, CV Libra and CV Safmarine Ngami carrying containers due to arrive on Saturday.
