ISLAMABAD: Rain-thundershower with gusty winds is expected at scattered places in various parts of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while humid weather conditions are likely to prevail in Balochistan and Sindh provinces on election day (today), Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) said on Tuesday.

Following PMD weather forecast, Pakistan Commissioner for Indus Waters (PCIW) has issued flood alert. It has been forecasted that low flood waters will enter River Chenab (Pakistan) via Chenab at Akhnoor and Jammu Tawi at Jammu.

According to PMD, rains are expected in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Peshawar and Kohat Divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir, while at isolated places in Bannu, DI Khan, Multan, DG Khan, Bahawalpur, Sahiwal and Zhob Divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan. Heavy falls are also expected at few places in Malakand, Hazara, Mardan, Peshawar, Kohat, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Sargodha Divisions, Islamabad, and Kashmir. Hot and humid weather is expected in most areas of Sindh and Balochistan provinces.

One or two very heavy falls are expected over the upper catchments of Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej during the week.

During the past 24 hours, rain-thundershower with gusty winds occurred at scattered places in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Malakand and Hazara Divisions, Islamabad, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, while at isolated places in Peshawar, Sibbi and Quetta Divisions. Weather remained hot and humid in other parts of the country.

Following PMD and PCIW alerts, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Pakistan has advised all the concerned authorities to take precautionary measures to avert any untoward incident.
