ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Science and Technology has constituted a five-member committee to finalise the calendar for indicating exact dates of Ramazan, Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Azha and Muharram for the next five years with 100 percent accuracy.

The ministry has issued a notification in this regard here on Tuesday. The committee consists of representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology, COMSATS, Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission and Metrological Department.

Dr Muhammad Tariq Masood, Joint Scientific Adviser, (MoST) will be the convener of the committee while Waqar Ahmad, Lecturer, Metrology Department, CUI, Nadeem Faisal Deputy Director, Metrology Department, Abu Nasan, Deputy Director Metrological Department and Ghulam Murtaza DCM, SUPARCO would be the members of the committee.

In a statement, Minister for Science and Technology said the committee has been formed to end dispute over sighting of crescent.
