KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 30,588 tonnes of cargo comprising 23,746 tonnes of import cargo and 6,842 tonnes of export cargo including 1,848 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.

The total import cargos of 23,746 tonnes comprised of 9,059 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,171 tonnes of bulk cargo and 9,516 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargos of 6,842 tonnes comprised of 6,602 tonnes of containerised cargo and 240 tonnes of bulk cargo.

As many as 1,848 containers comprising of 725 containers of import and 1,123 containers of export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 237 of 20’s and 163 of 40’s loaded while nil of 20’s and 81 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 178 of 20’s and 81 of 40’s loaded containers while 437 of 20’s and 173 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were three ships namely Northern Dexterity, Hyundai Long Beach and Tsukuba Galaxy carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were four vessels carrying containers and oil tankers respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 127,334 tonnes comprising of 91,747 tonnes of import cargo and 35,587 tonnes of export cargo including 1,873 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The total import cargo of 91,747 tonnes includes 42,840 tonnes of coal; 18,863 tonnes of diesel oil; 11,888 tonnes of palm oil; 17,491 tonnes of chemical; 251 tonnes of general cargo; 412 tonnes of LPG and nil tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 35,587 tonnes includes 35,587 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 1,873 containers comprising of nil containers import and 1,873 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

There were two ships namely Baltic Bridge and Prosperity carrying containers and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Monday morning, while two more ships namely Han Hai carrying general cargo expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of ten ships were occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, coal, soyabean, chemical, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

As many as fifteen vessels viz. MSC Heidi, MSC Tomoko, Tisntao Express, Dacai Yun, Lucky Sea, African Spoonbill, Gant Muse, Glory Navigator, Seneca, Panorea, White Purl, Gas Athena, Celia, Nardic Anny and Chang An-1 carrying containers, general cargo, rice, coal, soyabean, LPG, mogas and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were three ships viz. MSC Heidi, MSC Tomoko and Dacai Yun carrying containers and general cargo respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Multi Purpose Terminal respectively on Monday.

There are two ships namely Diyala and Al-Maviva carrying containers due to arrive on Monday while two more ships namely MSC Tomoko and Maersk Santosa carrying containers respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
