KARACHI: On Tuesday, Pakistan Rupee weakened in interbank market against USD for buying while strengthening slightly for selling. However, in open market it weakened against all major currencies typically reported in this section.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee weakened by 80 paisas for buying while gaining 10 paisas for selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 164.20 and 164.50 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR weakened by 70 paisas for both buying and selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 164.00 and 164.50 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR lost 1.50 rupees for buying and two rupees for selling closing at 182 and 184 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR weakened by 30 paisas for buying and by 40 paisas for selling closing at 44 and 44.30 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR weakened by 40 paisas for both buying and selling closing at 43 and 43.30 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee stayed unchanged on buying side while it depreciated its worth on selling side in relation to the greenback in the local currency market on Tuesday.

According to currency dealers, the greenback did not observe any change in its demand as it firmly ended at its opening rate for buying at Rs 163.60 whereas it gained 40 paisas for selling and closed at Rs 165.00 against the overnight trend of Rs 164.60.

Furthermore, the local currency maintained downward trend for the second consecutive day against the pound sterling. Consequently, the pound's buying and selling rates further improved from the Monday's closing of Rs 203.50 and Rs 205.00 to Rs 204.00 and Rs 205.50 respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar gained 50 paisas against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Tuesday.

The dollar opened at Rs165 (buying) and Rs 165.10 (selling) against last rate of Rs 164.50(buying) and Rs 164.60(selling).

It closed at Rs165 (buying) and Rs 165.10 (selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold were Rs 105,700 (selling) and Rs 107,500 (buying) in the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
