KARACHI: On Tuesday, Pakistan Rupee went up against USD in both interbank and open markets but lost value against Euro in open market just like yesterday. According to reports, some of this USD weakness came amid political wrangling over the next US fiscal rescue package.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee had gained 65 paisas for buying and 55 paisas for selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 166.20 and 166.40 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR had gained 50 paisas for buying and 40 paisas for selling against USD over yesterday's rates closing at 166.20 and 166.60 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR remained unchanged for buying and 50 paisas for selling over yesterday's rates closing at 193 and 194.50 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR had gained 20 paisas for buying and 15 paisas for selling closing at 44.80 and 45 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR had gained 15 paisas for buying and 20 paisas for selling closing at 43.70 and 43.90 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee maintained upward journey for the second consecutive day against the greenback in the local currency market on Tuesday.

Amidst lack of buyers' interest, the greenback remained under selling pressure for another day in the market and ended further lower for buying and selling at Rs 166.50 and Rs 168.00 against the overnight closing rate of Rs 167.00 and Rs 168.20 respectively, local currency dealers said.

On the contrary, the local currency continued to decline its worth for the second consecutive day against the pound sterling. Consequently, the pound's buying and selling rates further rose from the Monday's closing trend of Rs 211.50 and Rs 213.00 to Rs 212.00 and Rs 213.50 respectively, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee gained 50 paisas against the dollar at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Tuesday.

The dollar opened at Rs167(buying) and Rs 167.10(selling) against last rate of Rs167.50(buying) and Rs 167.60( selling).

It closed at Rs167(buying) and Rs 167.10(selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold was Rs 116,500(selling) and Rs 116,000(selling) in the local Sarafa (gold) markets of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
