CM draws no parallel between Sattar, Sharjeel’s cases
KHAIRPUR: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said here on Sunday that the case of Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan leader Dr Farooq Sattar cannot be compared with that of Sharjeel Memon’s case.
“Farooq Sattar was not arrested, but detained by police for questioning,” the CM told newsmen here.
He advised Dr Sattar to either seek pre-arrest bail or present himself in court, as he was an absconder and a court had called for his immediate arrest.
He said that Memon, unlike Sattar, has already received bail, and that they will accept the court’s decision on Memon.
Sattar, who was arrested in Karachi on Friday and released later and as such the confusion surrounding his arrest and subsequent release continued to persist.
Murad further said that the Sindh government believes in an independent media and the rights of journalists. He said that the Sindh government has opened 2,000 across the province and was making efforts to reopen more schools. — NNI
