RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said on Saturday that the federal government under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan has presented ‘extra-ordinary budget’ for the year 2021-22.

Felicitating PM Imran Khan, Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin and their team for presenting a balanced and public-friendly budget, the CM said in a statement that the PM Imran Khan-led economic team has announced long-lasting steps for composite development in the country and the budgetary announcements will further strengthen the economy.

The CM maintained that the weaker segments of the society were given special relief in the budget. “Opposition’s response to the pro-people measures announced in the budget 2021-22 is conflicting with the national interests,” he said, adding: “Pakistan is on its way to economic stability under the leadership of Imran Khan.”

The CM regretted that the opposition behaved in an uncivilized and undemocratic manner as it has nothing left to criticise. No better budget can be presented in this situation, he maintained.

On the other hand, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar met with Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and members of the National Assembly and felicitated them for a public-friendly budget 2021-22. Various matters including the budget, political and administrative issues were discussed during the meeting.

The governor maintained that the government and its allies will be able to get the federal budget 2021-22 passed easily and the opposition will be defeated. Unfortunately, the opposition parties are criticizing the federal budget without going through the budget, which is in accordance with the public aspirations.

Moreover, Pakistan Muslim League-Q (PML-Q) President Ch Shujat Hussain termed Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin’s budget speech as very positive and simple and said that budget is beneficial only when the salaried and working segments get practical benefits because the salaried segment is most affected by the tax. He said business segment can cover up its loss but the salaried class cannot increase its income.
