FBR extends anti-smuggling powers to FC

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended anti-smuggling powers to the officers of the Frontier Corps, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (North) to carry out activities near international borders till June 30, 2022.

The FBR has issued SRO 830(0/2021, here on Wednesday to entrust to the officers of the Frontier Corps, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (North), operating within their respective jurisdictions.

According to the notification, in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 6 of the Customs Act, 1969, the FBR is pleased to entrust to the officers of Frontier Corps, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (North), operating within their respective jurisdictions, the functions of officers of Customs under the provisions of the said Act specified with immediate effect.

The functions shall be limited within 30 kilometers of the international borders.

The functions shall exclude the city municipal limits, customs areas, customs stations, ports, borders customs stations, international airports and bonded warehouses etc. They shall not check any bona fide passenger's baggage and goods cleared from any customs area.—SOHAIL SARFRAZ
