RECORDER REPORT

KARACHI: Sindh Revenue Board (SRB) has collected a total revenue of Rs128 billion during 2020-21 as compared to the collection of Rs106 billion during 2019-20, reflecting a growth of 21% despite the general economic slowdown and the resurgence of COVID during the year.

According to details, the collection of Rs128 billion includes record receipts of Rs121 billion of Sindh sales tax, representing a growth of 21% over the collection of Rs100 billion during 2019-20.

The revenue collection of Sindh Workers Welfare Fund by SRB during 2020-21 stood at Rs7 billion as compared to the collection of Rs6 billion during the preceding year, which too represents a growth of 17%.

The milestone that the SRB has reached represents a consistency of achievements since the organization's inception in 2011, courtesy the hard work and steadfastness demonstrated by its workforce beyond the normal call of duty in a work culture dedicated to professional values.

It is pertinent to mention here that no new tax was levied in the Sindh Budget of 2020-21.

The business environment was also significantly unfavourable for the service sector which was hit hard by COVID-19 throughout the year, forcing partial lockdowns.

The SRB team acknowledges the trust and cooperation of its taxpayers and the continuous support of the Government of Sindh without which the landmark performance of SRB would not have been possible.
