KARACHI: The Karachi Port handled 185,549 tonnes of cargo comprising 144,418 tonnes of import cargo and 41,131 tonnes of export cargo including 7,965 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 144,418 tonnes comprised of 41,629 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,295 tonnes of general cargo; 37,677 tonnes of bulk cargo: 20,604 tonnes of coal; 3,130 tonnes of palm kernel expeller; 10,484 tonnes of fertilizer; 3,459 tonnes of soyabean meal and 63,817 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 41,131 tonnes comprised of 39,021 tonnes of containerised cargo; 110 tonnes of general cargo and 2,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

As many as 7,965 containers comprising of 3,013 containers import and 4,952 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 910 of 20’s and 1,008 of 40’s loaded while 05 of 20’s and 41 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,099 of 20’s and 469 of 40’s loaded containers while 425 of 20’s and 1,245 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were six ships namely APL Coral, Express Black Sea, Hyundai Global, Vania, Champion Tide and Josco Fuzhou carrying containers, oil tanker and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.

There were eight vessels viz. Hoston Express, Vania, CMA CGM Puget, Seaspan Lahore, Norstar Integrity, IVS Gleneagles, Stove Caledonia and Malk-M carrying containers, oil tanker, fertilizer, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

There were five ships namely Hoston Express, CMA CGM Puget, Cosco Fukuyama, MT Karachi, Umm Ad Dalkh and Menalon carrying containers, oil tanker, seeds and meals respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday, while three ships namely Nothern Dependant, Ital Milione and Sam Jaguar carrying containers and coal are expected to sail on Wednesday.

There were four vessels viz. MSC Krittika, Prosper, Glovis Sun and Yasa Pembe carrying containers, vehicles and coal respectively due to arrive on Tuesday while four vessels viz. Kota Kaya, Ever Divine, Wan Hai-506 and Anne carrying containers and coal respectively are due to arrive on Wednesday.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 153,740 tonnes comprising 123,055 tonnes of import cargo and 30,685 tonnes of export cargo including 2,952 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

The total import cargo of 123,055 tonnes includes 52,124 tonnes of furnace oil; 15,500 tonnes of palm oil; 1,280 tonnes of canola seeds; 9,500 tonnes of soyabean; 18,130 tonnes of coal; 1,118 tonnes of LPG and 25,403 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 30,685 tonnes includes 30,685 tonnes of containerised cargo.

As many as 2,952 containers comprising of 1,337 containers import and 1,615 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.

There were five ships namely CV MSC Pina, CV Prosper, MT Caspian Gas, MT Lion-M and MT Maritime Lira carrying containers, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two more ships namely CV MSC Federica and MT North Gas carrying containers and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.

A total number of twelve vessels viz. CV TG Poseidon, CV MSC Pina, CV Prosper, CV MSC Federica, MV Senorita, MV Anthemis, MV Nord Leader, MV Nord Destiny, MT North Gas, MT Caspian Gas, Lion-M and MT Maritime Lira currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, canola seeds, soyabean seeds, chemical, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as twenty ships namely MV Bao An Ling, MV Calipso, MV Star Trader, MV Safizaya Diaono, MV Eternal Triumph, MV Nord Leader, MV Friendly Seas, MV Central Park, MV Tiamat Gas, MT White Pearl, MT Maga Rita, MT Al-Salam-II, MT BW Zamesi, MT Bahra, MT Bneider, MT Al Mahfooz, MT Shalamar, MT Ginga Tiger, MT Sun Plaeg, MT YM Jupiter and NCC Maha carrying general cargo, soyabean, coal, chemical, LPG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were six vessels viz. CV Express Black Sea, CV APL Charleston CV Maersk Chicago, MV Central Park, MT Al Mahfooza and MT Ginga Tiger carrying containers, chemical, furnace oil and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday.

There were six ships namely CV Express Black Sea, CV APL Charleston CV Mehun, CV Maersk Chicago, CV MSC Veronique and MV Yuan Hai carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Tuesday.
