ISLAMABAD: Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Shabbar Zaidi said Tuesday a draft being circulated as Federal Revenue Authority (FRA) Act, 2019 has nothing to do with the government.

According to a tweet of Shabbar Zaidi on Tuesday, “It is clarified by FBR that a draft being circulated as FRA Act, 2019 has nothing to do with the government. Whenever, and if, there will be any legislation on this matter, the same shall be approved by the cabinet after due deliberation and communication on the subject.”

When contacted, FBR officials said that the FBR is under the process of restructuring and Inland Revenue Wing and Customs Wing are in the process of drafting their respective proposals on re-organization of the FBR. The consolidated proposals would be presented before the Board-in-Council for approval and then referred to the cabinet for final approval, they added.
