BRIndex100 consolidates gains

KARACHI: Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) Friday continued upward march on the back of bull-run in global equities.

BRIndex100 opened at 4,460.99. It touched intraday high of 4,549.00 and intraday Low of 4,460.67 to close at 4,542.08 which was 81.09 points or 1.82 percent higher than previous close. Volume stood at 369,113,600. B.O.Punjab was the most traded company in BRIndex100 with a volume of 52,475,000.

BRIndex30 opened at 23,478.55. It touched intraday high of 24,182.11 and intraday Low of 23,478.75 to close at 24,156.10 which was 677.55 points or 2.89 percent higher than previous close. Volume stood at 265,451,900. B.O.Punjab was the most traded company in BRIndex30 with a volume of 52,475,000.

The benchmark KSE-100 Index closed at 43,207 points against 42,523 points Thursday, showing an increase of 684 points or 1.61 percent. The market capitalization surged by Rs 109 billion to Rs 8.103 trillion.

Volumes also increased by 10 percent to 400 million up from 362.49 million shares a day earlier. Out of total 369 active scrips, some 235 closed positive, 116 negative while the value of 18 stocks remained unchanged.

Analysts said the market has crossed 43,000 level after 17 months. Buying activity was observed almost across-the-board; however, blue chips that were recently ascending and kept the market elevated took a breather.

LUCK, POL, DAWH and PSO remained on the negative side. Banking sector led the volumes table with 90.1 million shares, followed by Technology 49.4 million and Cement 28.4 million. Among scrips, BOP topped the charts with 53.1 million shares followed by KEL 33.4 million and UNITY 24.3 million.

Ahsan Mehanti of Arif Habib Corp said that stocks closed record bullish amid high trades led by scrips across the board on bull-run in global equities.

Foreign inflows, rupee stability and the World Bank report acknowledging ongoing macroeconomic stabilization efforts played a catalytic role in bullish close in the earnings seasons rally, he added.

Bhanero Tex and ICI Pakistan were the top gainers with Rs 35.00 and Rs 30.42 to close at Rs 920.00 and Rs 702.24, respectively. Indus Dyeing and Bata Pak were the top losers with Rs 33.45 and Rs 29.00 to Rs 635.55 and Rs 1,950.00, respectively.

BR Automobile Assembler Index Closed at 6,083.49 with a net positive change of 42.61 points or a percentage change of 0.71 and a total turnover of 5,129,430.

BR Cement Index Closed at 3,925.67 with a net positive change of 27.73 points or a percentage change of 0.71 and a total turnover of 40,139,300.

BR Commercial Banks Index Closed at 10,147.75 with a net positive change of 171.96 points or a percentage change of 1.72 and a total turnover of 90,129,800.

BR Power Generation and Distribution Index closed at 5,943.40 with a net positive change of 166.83 points or a percentage change of 2.89 and a total turnover of 28,355,500.

BR Oil and Gas Index closed at 5,110.31 with a net positive change of 127.02 points or a percentage change of 2.55 and a total turnover of 37,935,960.

BR Tech. & Comm. Index closed at 1,043.31 with a net positive change of 2.31 points or a percentage change of 0.22 and a total turnover of 49,422,400.
