Pakistan, China to sign MoUs today

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar said that Pakistan and China would establish two new joint working groups (JWGs) under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) for agriculture and science and technology.

In a tweet, the minister said memorandum of understanding (MoU) to this effect would be signed in Beijing on Tuesday (today). He said that this is part of broadening of the CPEC from first phase, which was mainly infrastructure, to a much broader economic partnership.

The minister said the governments of Pakistan and China believed that the CPEC had entered a new phase of expansion with increasing cooperation in various projects.

According to the minister’s tweet, “MOU’s being signed tomorrow in Beijing for establishment of 2 new joint working groups under CPEC, for agriculture and science & technology. This is part of the broadening of CPEC from the first phase which was mainly infrastructure to a much broader economic partnership.”
