ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration seized face masks worth Rs20 million in a raid in Sector F-6.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Umer Randhawa during a raid at a house in the sector -6 recovered over 50,000 masks and also arrested four Chinese persons, sources said. They said that foreigners had packed 50,000 masks in four big cartons. The ICT officials handed over the four Chinese persons to the police for further action, they said.

The sale of face masks has increased after the number of people affected by the novel coronavirus across the country surged to 212. Majority of these cases are from Sindh.

Meanwhile, the high-ups of the City police held meetings for sensitization of the police officials about coronavirus. Officials were briefed to use masks, hand sanitizers as well as take other prevention measures.

The City police have also set up a control room, which would ensure precautionary measures to prevent personnel of the force from contracting coronavirus.

All necessary safety materials (hand sanitizers, masks etc) would be provided to the policemen performing duties at police pickets or traffic duties on the road.
