KARACHI: On Wednesday, PKR regained some lost value after going down for quite some time against major currencies. It went up by one and a half rupee against Euro thus bringing PKR back above 200 in open market. In global markets, at the time of writing of this report dollar was going strong supported by higher Treasury yields and cautious market sentiment as investors awaited European central bank policy.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: In the interbank market, Pakistan Rupee gained 45 paisas for both buying and selling against USD over yesterday’s rates closing at 167.15 and 167.25 respectively.

OPEN MARKET RATES: In the open market, PKR gained 60 paisas for buying and 50 paisas for selling over yesterday’s rates closing at 167.80 and 168.20 respectively.

Against Euro, PKR gained 1.50 rupees for both buying and selling closing at 197 and 198.50 respectively.

Against UAE Dirham, PKR gained 20 paisas for buying and 10 paisas for selling closing at 45.90 and 46.20 respectively.

Against Saudi Riyal, PKR gained 20 paisas for buying and 15 paisas for selling closing at 44.30 and 44.60 respectively.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee showed stability as it recovered its day earlier losses versus the American dollar in the local currency market on Wednesday.

Following lack of buyers’ interest in the market, the US dollar remained under selling pressure throughout the trading session and closed for buying and selling at Rs 167.60 and Rs 168.80 against the overnight closing rate of Rs 167.90 and Rs 168.90, respectively, local currency dealers said.

Moreover, the rupee also improved its worth by Re 1 against the pound sterling for buying and closed at Rs 229.50 against the opening rate of Rs 230.50 whereas it did not witness any change and firmly closed for selling at Rs 232.00, they added.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar gained 30 paisas against the rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Wednesday.

The dollar opened at Rs168.60(buying) and Rs 168.70(selling) against last rate of Rs168.30(buying) and Rs 168.40(selling).

It closed at Rs168.60(buying) and Rs 168.70(selling).

The buying and selling rates of one tola of gold remained Rs. 109,700 (buying) and Rs109,500(selling).
