RECORDER REPORT

LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry has urged the Federal Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen and Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to extend the date for the filing of income tax returns till December 31, 2021.

In a statement issued here, the LCCI President Mian Tariq Misbah, Senior Vice President Muhammad Nasir Hameed Khan and Vice President Tahir Manzoor Chaudhry said that because of Covid-19, cumbersome FBR online system and trade bodies elections in September, it is impossible for the business community to file income tax returns by the end of this month.

The LCCI office-bearers said that extension in the date for the filing of income tax return will not only be a great favour to the business community but will also be in the interest of the government.

Elaborating the point, the LCCI office-bearers said that extension in the date for the filing of income tax returns will help government to achieve its revenue target besides trust building of the private sector.
