KARACHI: An anti-terrorism court on Tuesday sent Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Waseem Akhtar to jail on physical remand in the terror facilitation case.

The court also issued a notice on two separate bail applications, shifting the matter to ATC-I.

On a plea to provide B Class in jail, the court issued a notice and ordered to present a challan on Wednesday.

Moreover, the court directed police to interrogate the accused at jail if they want to question him in connection with May 12 incident or in any other case.

Earlier Wasim Akhtar told media persons at the court that he was treated well by the police and he has no complaint over it.

Waseem Akhtar was arrested along with MQM’s Rauf Siddiqui, Pak Sarzameen Party’s Anis Qaimkhani and PPP’s Abdul Qadir Patel on July 19 after the ATC rejected their pre-arrest bail applications.

The accused are facing charges of allegedly asking Dr Asim Hussian, a former petroleum minister and ex-president Asif Zardari’s close aide, to provide treatment and shelter to alleged terrorists and gangsters at the North Nazimabad and Clifton branches Ziauddin Hospital.—INP
