KARACHI: Pakistan International Freight Forwarders Association (PIFFA) has arranged a reception for Babar Badat on being elected unopposed as president of FIATA at a local hotel on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, speakers congratulated Badat for his unopposed elections as president FIATA. Babar Badat is the first Pakistani who elected president of this well reputed international body.

Port Qasim Authority (PQA) Chairman Agha Jan Akhtar, in his speech as the chief guest of the event said that the government is very well aware of the importance of connectivity projects to boost trading activities in the country. He said the government is paying full attention on early completion of connectivity projects at Gwadar Port and other ports.

Babar Badat said that the logistic industry plays vital role to boost trading activities, economic development and prosperity. He assured the participants that as President FIATA he will make all efforts to promote local industry at international level.

Shakil Ahmed, Chairman PIFFA in his speech congratulated Badar Barat on being elected unopposed president of FIATA.

Asim Saeed, Abdul Majeed Piracha, Izhar ul Haq Qamar, Tariq Mehmood Chaudhry, Moin A Malik, Muhammad Rajpar and others also spoke on this occasion and highlighted various issued being faced by the logistic, transportation and shipping industries.

FIATA was founded in 1926. It is headquartered in Zurich and remains the world’s largest non-governmental organization in the field of international logistics and transportation. It has national associations from 125 member countries and represents around 50,000 logistics companies employing approximately 10 million people across 150 countries.
