KARACHI: A cheque distribution ceremony was held on Thursday at NAB Karachi office in an austere and simple manner in which Deputy Chairman NAB Imtiaz Tajwar in presence of DG NAB Karachi Mohammad Altaf Bawany distributed cheques amongst the representatives of various departments from Federal as well as Provincial Governments, worth Rs38.450 million recovered by NAB. The amounts were embezzled by various Government officials through misuse of authority, corruption and corrupt practices and were the outcome of successful investigations.  

Nasir Hussain Shah, Chairman Sindh Employees Social Security Institute (SESSI) and Minister for Transport & Mass Transit, Labour, Human Resources and Information Govt of Sindh received a cheque worth Rs3.732 million that was usurped by one Jawaid Rajput SMO, SESSI Hospital, Asim Ali Khan Medical Advisor, SESSI Landhi Karachi and others by embezzlement of SESSI hospital funds.

Deputy Chairman NAB, Imtiaz Tajwar also disbursed a cheque worth Rs16.544 million to Saqif Saeed Collector, Model Custom Collectorate (Exports) (FBR) Karachi which was recovered from various firms in lieu of illegal sales tax refunds to various firms on the basis of fake invoices.

A cheque worth Rs0.831 million was handed over to Masood ul Hassan Administrator OGDCL against an amount embezzled due to pilferage of Diesel at OGDCL field.—PR
