KARACHI: Stable trend was seen on the local currency market on Wednesday as the rupee sustained present levels against the dollar in process of trading, dealers said.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: The rupee picked up two-paisa in relation to the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 105.49 and 105.50, they said.

OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee was unchanged in terms of the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 106.00 and Rs 106.30, while it recovered 40-paisa versus the euro for buying and selling at Rs 112.90 and Rs 113.90, they added.

In the third Asian trade, the dollar nursed broad losses as investors cut crowded long positions in the lead-up to the US Thanksgiving holidays, and amid heightened geopolitical tensions after Turkey downed a Russian warplane.

The euro rose as far as $1.0676, and last traded at $1.0667, up 0.2 percent from late US levels.

The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 66.32, the greenback was at 4.2000 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was available at 6.3882 versus the Chinese yuan.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee depicted little changes against the dollar on the local open market on Wednesday.

The dollar began trading at its Tuesday's closing of Rs 106.80 and Rs 107.10 as its buying and selling rates. During the day's trading, it gained, ending at Rs 106.85 on the buying counter though its selling closed at the opening level of Rs 107.10.

The rupee kept going up for another day against the pound sterling, in particular. The pound's buying and selling rates declined from the overnight closing of Rs 160.80 and Rs 161.30 to Rs 160.60 and Rs 161.20, respectively.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The dollar further gained strength against the Pak rupee at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, here on Wednesday.

The dollar opened at Rs 106 (buying) and Rs 106.20 (selling) against overnight value of Rs 105 (buying) and Rs 105.20 (selling). It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 106 (buying) and Rs 106.20 (selling).

Pound Sterling opened at Rs 158 (buying) and Rs 158.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 158 (buying) and Rs 158.50 (selling).
