ISLAMABAD: State Minister for Water and Power, Ch. Abid Sher Ali, on Tuesday directed implementation of Power Purchase Agreement between Karachi Electricity Supply Company (KESC) and National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) in true letter and spirit.

Chairing a meeting on KESC issue here on Tuesday, the Minister said no violation in terms of excessive power withdrawal by the company would be allowed.

He said National Power Control Centre (NPCC) has already issued final notice to KESC in this regard mentioning that in case of agreement violation by drawing power more than 650MW National Power Control Centre would exercise its power to switch it off.

The Minister further directed for immediate resolution of dispute on billing between KESC and NTDC and recovering the outstanding amount.

He further said that the previous government did not take notice of such violation; however, observed that such stringent measures were inevitable to cope with the energy crisis prevailing in the country.

He claimed that the government would sort out issue of power theft on war footing basis.—APP
