KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader and former Sindh Assembly lawmaker Nadia Gabol announced on Saturday that she would be joining Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).

Gabol announced her resignation from the MQM in a press conference held in Karachi. She was accompanied by Sindh Minister for Local Government Owais Muzzafar.

The former Sindh human rights minister said the Gabol family enjoyed a long-standing association with the PPP. She said she still bore ties with the MQM, but was forced to leave on account of some differences.

Responding to one of the questions, Nadia Gabol admitted that Nabil Gabol’s inclusion in the MQM was one of the reasons she resigned.

Gabol had joined the MQM after meeting with the MQM chief Altaf Hussain in London in 2006. She is the daughter of Sardar Abdul Latif Gabol and niece of Nabil Gabol, the former PPP minister, who joined the MQM and won the NA-246 seat in the General Election-2013.—INP
