HYDERABAD: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) Deputy Convenor and MNA, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui has said his party is preparing to participate in the upcoming local government elections in Sindh.

Talking to the media at a hotel here on Saturday, the Muttahida leader said that the delimitation process in Karachi and Hyderabad was still unclear as to how the government would address the issue of an increase in the population over the last 15 years without a fresh population census.

Talking about the ongoing security operation for restoring the law and order in Karachi, the MNA said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had taken an initiative to address the situation. “The PM held cabinet meeting in Karachi after which the security operation was initiated. We should give time to the operation and keep our expectations alive,” he said.

He said that for the first time a democratic government completed its five-year tenure and expressed hope that the incumbent government would also complete its constitutional tenure.

The MNA thanked the people for generously donating the animal skins and hides to his party’s welfare organisation. The MQM’s Deputy Convenor said the Khidmat Khalq Foundation (KKF) has built Nazeer Hussain University in Karachi which would start functioning from the next year. “After this university becomes functional, we will establish more universities in other cities,” he said.
