LAHORE: Senior Vice President of All Pakistan Paper Merchants Association (APPMA) and founder of Kite Flying Festival in Pakistan, Khawaja Nadeem Saeed Wayeen urged Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif to form a high-powered committee headed by MNA Pervaiz Malik for the early establishment of kite city outside Lahore.

He was addressing a meeting here on Wednesday which was also attended by Barrister Khalid Zafar, Col Saeed Khan (retd), Professor Khalid Malik, office bearers of Home Net NGO, representatives of All Pakistan Kite Flying Association and a large number of people from various walks of life.

Khawaja Nadeem Saeed Wayeen said that proposed committee would not only supplement the Chief Minister Punjab’s efforts to save the precious human lives but would also revive the dying tourism industry. He said Pevaiz Malik was the most effective and competent Parliamentarian to head this committee as he has vast experience and is well aware of the social and economic issues.

While expressing concern over sad incident of deaths by kite string, he urged the people to stop flying kites on rooftops.

He said it is the only reason that he gave the proposal for the establishment of out-of-city kite flying zones to avoid happening of any such incident in future.

He said the government would not be able to control kite flying within the premises of the city till the establishment of kite flying zones out of city limits.

Khawaja Nadeem Saeed Wayeen appealed to Punjab CM Shahbaz Sharif to form a high-powered committee immediately in the larger interest of the trade, industry, tourism sector and masses.
