PESHAWAR: The Capital City Police have arrested 32 suspected persons during search operations in different areas here on Monday.

Police sources said during various operations conducted in Mathra, Khazana and Daudzai areas, 32 persons were arrested with illegal weapons.

During search operations police claimed to have recovered one kalashnikov, 30 rifles, one 7mm rifle and a huge quantity of bullets from the procession of outlaws.

Meanwhile, district administration has cancelled the vacations of all Additional Assistant Commissioners (AACs) and asked them to perform duty at Supreme Command Post on Muharram 9 and 10.

In this connection, Deputy Commissioner, Peshawar, Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam convened an emergency meeting in his office to review security measures during Ashura. Assistant Commissioner, Asad Haroon, all Additional Assistant Commissioners attended the meeting.

During the meeting, all AAcs have been asked to report Supreme Command Post for performing duties on Muharram 9 and 10. In this connection, Assistant Commissioner Asad Haroon has been appointed as focal person and directed him for monitoring the overall situation.

Furthermore, Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam under Section 144 has banned the renting of motorcycle and motorcar during Ashura. A formal notification has already been issued in this regard.
