MULTAN: Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) released its fourth cotton arrival figures on November 18th till November 15, 2013.

The PCGA report showed that around 95,18,130 bales reached the country’s ginneries by November 15, 2013, which depicted an increase of 11.73 percent against the last year when ginneries received 76,06,263 cotton bales.

PCGA chairman Mukhtar Ahmed Khan Baloch briefed journalists on Monday about seed-cotton (phutti) arrivals, sales and unsold stock of cotton. He said that 73,06,125 cotton bales were sold to the textile units and exporters bought 2,36,720 bales. Thus, overall 75,42,845 bales were traded so far.

He said that PCGA was expecting bumper crop which may touch the figures of 13.9 million bales. Baloch said that total 1115 out of 1200 ginning factories are operational in Sindh and Punjab. The chairman of PCGA said that Punjab contributed 62,04,334 bales which 8.41 percent more than last year when Punjab contributed 57,23,286 bales, Sindh contributed 33,13,796 bales which 18.53 percent more than last year when it contributed 27,95,809 bales and Balochistan 52,350 bales.

After the total trading of 75,42,845 bales, there are 19,75,285 bales available with ginners as unsold stock. He said that cotton trading remained firm amid strong physical price and higher cottonseed prices. District wise cotton arrival in Punjab: Multan 3,25,910 bales 41.07 percent more than last year, Lodhran 2,00,673 bales 15.93 percent increase, Khanewal 6,83,539 showing a decrease of 2.42 percent, Muzaffargarh 2,88,348 bales 24.94 percent increase, Dera Ghazi Khan 2,83,491 bales showed an increase of 56.45 percent, Rajanpur 3,15,520 bales showing an increase of 13.40 percent. Layyah 1,79,582 bales 85.75 percent more than last year, Vehari 6,37,054 bales 5.52 percent short, Sahiwal 3,82,400 bales decreased by 13.72 percent, Pakpattan 1,36,932 showing 29.70 percent less than preceding year, Okara 36,100 showing a decrease of 21.44 percent, Kasur 21,100, Toba Tek Singh, 1,77,366 bales, Faisalabad 53,250, Jhang 1,02,420, Mianwali 1,66,500 bales, Bhakkar 1,21,350 showing an decrease of 5.64, Sargodha 27,200, RahimyarKhan, 706,841, Bahawalpur 6,55,268 and Bahawalnagar 7,02,500 bales. District wise cotton arrival in Sindh, Hyderabad 2,80,990 bales showing an increase of 24.05 percent, Mirpur Khas 3,38,584, showing decrease by 6.28 percent. Sangarh 13,33,070 Nawabshah 2,60,318 Naushero Feroze 206,703, Khairpur 1,93,018, Ghotki 1,22,988, Sukkur, 2,62,300, Dadu 27,636, Jamshoro 1,81,636, Badin 53,221 and Balochistan 53,332 bales. Ginneries received 19,11,687 bales during the month of November Ist to November 15. Nearly 1,975,285 bales are still with the ginneries as unsold stock till November 15, 2013.
