MULTAN: Muzaffargarh police have busted a gang of kidnappers for ransom belonging to Dera Ismail Khan and arrested five members of this gang and recovered cash of Rs 1,225,000, four mobile phones, two rings and a chain of gold, and a wristwatch from their possession.

DPO Muzaffargarh Usman Akram Gondal told media that a teenager Tariq Zafar son of Zafar Iqbal of Daira Din Panah received SMS from an unknown cell number. When he contacted the number, a lady received his call who offered him friendship. Later, she set a date for a meeting, as Tariq reached at the site they kidnapped him in a car and took him to a deserted place near Chowk Azam where they kept him in detention. They demanded ransom of two billion rupees but later they agreed to accept Rs 1,225,000. After meeting their demand, they released him.

Tariq’s parents contacted to police and got registered a case against them.

Police traced the accused through their SIMs and arrested five accused named Afzal Bari, Sibtain, Abid Rauf, Shahid ullah and Imran, while another three accused Naila Afzal, Abdul Qayyum and Nasir Ali are still at large.

The DPO said Shahidullah was also involved in Rawalpindi robbery.

DPO asked the parents to keep vigilant eyes on the activities of their children who were using cellphones or computer to save them from trouble.
