PESHAWAR: The Governor, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engineer Shaukatullah was Monday informed that 2277 teams have been constituted to reach out to 0.58 million target population in FATA in the upcoming campaign of this year. This was told to him during a briefing here during a surprise visit to FATA Polio Control Room (FPCR) at FATA Secretariat.

The governor further informed that the government in consultation with technical partners has chalked out robust strategy for rooting out polio from the region in 2014. To get the desired objectives not only the number of campaigns has been increased in FATA. But, emphasis was also laid on improving quality of the campaigns.

The officials said that there was no issue of refusals in FATA except few areas of Khyber and Waziristan Agency as people were demanding for vaccination to protect their children from lifelong disability. He was also informed that FATA Secretariat was approaching the relevant quarters to remove constraints in specific areas.

Governor directed the officials to make sure the effective participation of the local community and tribal elders to ensure successful polio vaccination to each and every child in tribal areas to save all the children from the deadly disease.

Speaking on the occasion, the Governor, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that the government is committed for the eradication of polio from the region and every possible step would be taken to ensure polio vaccination to each and every child in FATA to save all the children from the crippling virus.

During his visit, he directed the authorities concerned to take austerity measures to make sure the successful vaccination in the tribal areas to save the lives of children from the dangerous disease.
