KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday summoned a top officer of a Clifton project comprising a flyover and two underpasses for flouting its order.

Earlier on April 09, the bench had restrained Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) and other entities from carrying out developmental work at a place where PTCL’s underground infrastructure was laid without informing PTCL.

PTCL counsel, Haider Waheed, told the court that construction work was being carried out on a flyover and two underpasses near Abdullah Shah Gazi shrine without issuing a notice to PTCL as required under Section 19-A of Telegraph Act 1885, which was a sheer violation of the court order.

He requested the court to initiate contempt of court proceedings against KMC administrator as construction work was under way around Park Tower in KMC jurisdiction.

After hearing arguments, Chief Justice Maqbool Baqar directed the most senior officer of project to appear before it.—PPI
