MULTAN: Two robbers among five killed in an encounter with the police during a robbery of a branch of National Bank in Sanawan (Muzaffargarh district) on Monday.

Another three ran away with a cash of Rs 1.6 million. Besides, two bank guards Muhammad Akram and Muhammad Sharif and a police constable Rafi-uz-Zaman were injured.

They were shifted to Nishtar Hospital due to their critical condition. The SHO AD Gujjar said that five robbers raided a bank branch of NBP on Kot Addu Road at 10.00 am. =Three robbers entered the building of the bank while two others covered them from outside. When guards resisted they opened fire and injured them.

Later, they ran away. Police chased them up to five kilometres. They adopted different ways to escape the police. However, police shot two of them dead when they tried to hide in a sugarcane field.
