LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Excise and Taxation and Finance, Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman While addressing the PML-N workers here on Monday said that policies being pursued by the PML-N government are acknowledged by the international community and the IMF.

Mujtaba said the fiscal consolidation process initiated by the government is on track and full utilisation of economic initiatives will be fruitful.

Mujtaba said economy has started growing and the target for large scale manufacturing and improved performance by services would be encouraged to become partners in leveraging public assets to create efficiency gains. He said that a key plan for evolving partnerships would be developed by the departments in the next fiscal year.

He said the government is committed to increase the tax to GDP ratio by one percent each year. He said the tax to GDP ratio of Pakistan was at seven to eight percent in previous government and we improved it to more than 10 percent and are endeavoring to take it to 15 percent in the medium term.

Mujtaba told the members that such programmes would be launched in which vocational and practical trainings will be provided to unemployed youth and opportunities of maximum employment would also be provided to them so that they could play their proactive role in socio-economic uplift of the country.
