KARACHI: Karachi University Teachers Society (KUTS) in collaboration with Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association-Sindh (FAPUASA-Sindh) has given a call of strike on August 31 if demands of KU’s teachers are not met till August 30.

According to details, KUTS held a meeting of its general body in KU about their ongoing issues. The secretaries and presidents of teachers’ associations from other six universities of Sindh also attended the meeting on special invitation of KUTS.

In meeting, KUTS decided to observe strike on August 31 if their demands are not met by August 30. The FAPUASA-Sindh supported the strike call and warned that academic activities of all public universities in Sindh will be suspended on August 31.

President FAPUASA-Sindh Dr Shah Nawaz Talpur said that demands of KU’s teachers are justifiable and the universities of all Sindh stand with them. He added that issues of all universities of Sindh are of similar nature, but inefficiency, unbearable behavior of KU’s director finance and delay in payment of salaries are intolerable.

President Teachers Association Sindh University Dr. Irfana Mallah said that it is unbelievable that teachers of all other universities of Sindh have been paid the leave encashment but the KU’s teachers are deprived of this facility.-PPI
