LAHORE: The University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore declared the result of Entrance Test 2014 for admission to medical and dental colleges of the Punjab on Sunday.

A total of 44243 candidates appeared in the Entrance Test held on August 31, out of which 19231 scored 60 per cent and above marks. As many as 6377 scored 50 to 59 per cent whereas 6395 candidates secured 40 to 49 per cent marks. A total of 12240 candidates scored less than 40 per cent marks.

It is pertinent to mention that according to Pakistan Medical and Dental Council’s regulations, the pass/fail criteria has been abolished for the medical colleges’ entrance test.

All the three positions were bagged by the girls. Ayesha Akhter d/o Muhammad Akhter from Faisalabad got the first position securing 1076/1100 marks whereas Sana Shahid d/o Muhammad Shahid of Lahore and Marium Rafiq d/o Rafiq Ahmed of Sahiwal bagged second and third position by securing 1072/1100 and 1070/1100 marks respectively.

The eligible candidates will compete for 3405 MBBS and 216 BDS seats in 20 public sector medical and dental colleges respectively. The admission forms for government medical and dental colleges will be available from September 23 to October 02.

All those candidates who have secured 82 per cent and above aggregate marks according to the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council’s formula will be eligible to apply for admission on open merit basis. The first selection list will be displayed on October 30 whereas classes in all public sector medical colleges of the Punjab will commence on November 17.
