MULTAN: The executive committee of Lahore High Court Bar Association Multan registry has flayed what it said step-motherly treatment with the lawyers of Southern Punjab and discriminatory policies in the appointment of judges.

It has decided to convene a lawyers convention in Multan to adopt a unanimous strategy.

The association president Syed Athar Shah Bukhari said at a joint press conference that bureaucracy and establishment was determined to keep the southern Punjab backward and depriving it of its due share in the superior judiciary.

The bar’s executive committee has also demanded of the Chief Justice of Pakistan to ensure swift implementation upon the decision that was to be taken on October 2, 2014 and give due representation to south Punjab lawyers without any prejudices.

Bukhari has said that they would fight for the rights of lawyer of Multan, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghzi Khan Divisions. He also announced convening a lawyer’ representative convention on September 27 in Multan to devise a strategy against the discriminatory policies.
