ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has sent a charter of guidelines on fair elections to Electoral Reform Committee, seeking more power for implementation of its orders. ECP has sought power equal to that of a High Court.

According to sources, ECP has demanded the right to summon any person countrywide to provide documents. It was stated in guidelines that decisions made by ECP should enjoy the force and importance equal to those of a High court.

Meanwhile, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has called their members to discuss electoral reforms in a meeting to be held today in Islamabad.—NNI
