ISLAMABAD: Members of the National Assembly on Wednesday strongly condemned the aggression of Indian forces on the Line of Control and the Working Boundary and urged the government to give a strong response.

The House resumed the discussion on the situation arising out of indiscriminate and unprovoked firing and shelling on the border by Indian forces, resulting in deaths and injuries to several Pakistanis along with loss of property. Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari said that the House must make resolve for defending the country and supporting the army. He said that Pakistan should give a strong response to Indian aggression. He said that the international community had closed its eyes on human rights violations in occupied Kashmir.

Dr Nafisa Shah of the PPP said, “We should not accept Indian hegemony and give a strong response to it. She said that Pakistani army was already engaged in war against terrorism in FATA and Balochistan. She said that India was promoting its identity through Hindu nationalism. SHe said that India was not allowing United Nations (UN) observers to visit occupied Kashmir. She said that our Defence Minister should give statement against Indian aggression at LoC and Working Boundary.

Aisha Syed said India was not only carrying out military aggression, but also resorting to water terrorism. She also suggested that Pakistan should stop trade with India.

Marvi Memon said Pakistan was exercising restraint in responding to threatening statements emanating from New Delhi as it wants amicable resolution of the issue.

Asiya Naz Tanoli, Tahir Iqbal and Shazia Mari also said while speaking on the issue that Pakistan should adopt an effective strategy to respond to Indian aggression.
