KARACHI: The rupee gave up some gains in terms of the dollar in the currency market on Friday, dealers said.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: The rupee reversed its overnight appreciation in relation to the dollar, losing 10-paisa in relation to the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 100.54 and Rs 100.56 respectively, they said.

OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee did not move any side versus the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 100.55 and Rs 100.75 respectively. The rupee rose by 25-paisa against the euro for buying and selling at Rs 123.50 and Rs 123.75 respectively, they said.

In the final session, the safe-haven yen was on the back foot, as risk assets staged a broad recovery and investors awaited a press conference by the head of the Bank of Japan after the central bank held policy steady.

The dollar added about 0.4 percent against the yen to buy 119.27 yen, while the euro rose about 0.3 percent to 146.44 yen.

The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 63.05, the greenback was at 3.4745 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and US currency was at 6.2211 versus the Chinese yanu.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The Pak rupee showed strength and was appreciated by 25-paisa in relation to the greenback on the local currency market on Friday.

According to the currency dealers, the dollar was opened on a depressed note and remained under pressure due to lacking buyers' interest. At close of trading, the dollar was ended lower at Rs 100.50 and Rs 100.75 as its buying and selling rate against Rs 100.75 and Rs 101.00 of Thursday, respectively.

However, the rupee-pound sterling stayed unchanged amid dull trading activity. The dollar was traded at its day earlier closing of Rs 157.00 and Rs 157.25 on buying and selling counter, respectively, the dealers said.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Friday.

The dollar opened at Rs 101.30 (buying) and Rs 101.40 (selling) against same overnight rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 101.30 (buying) and Rs 101.40 (selling).

Pound Sterling opened at Rs 158 (buying) and Rs 159 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 158 (buying) and Rs 159 (selling).
