ISLAMABAD: The government has appointed Arshad Chaudhry as Managing Director of National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC), well informed sources told Business Recorder.

A couple of days ago, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif suspended Managing Director NTDC Tahir Mehmood and General Manager National Power Control Centre (NPCC) Muhammad Saleem for their failure to take timely measures to avert country wide power blackout.

Sources said NTDC Board of Directors met on Friday to finalise the name of new head of the organisation. After thorough discussion, the board finalised the name of Arshad Chaudhay and sent it to the federal government for approval.

Chaudhary was in China on Friday on an official visit. He is expected to take charge as Managing Director on Sunday.

The government has also appointed General Manager Rawat Laboratories Aziz ur Rehman as General Manager NPCC.-MUSHTAQ GHUMMAN
