PPP, MQM candidates elected unopposed from Sindh

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Saturday issued the final list of contesting candidates for the Senate elections scheduled to be held on March 5, 2015.

The data released by the ECP states that total 131 candidates are in the run for the Senate elections. Four candidates have been elected unopposed from Sindh, including Farooq H. Naek of Pakistan People's Party and Muhammad Ali Saif of MQM against seats reserved for technocrats and Sassui Palijo of the Pakistan People's Party and Nighat Mirza of MQM against the Senate seats reserved for women.

As many as 16 candidates are contesting Senate election from Punjab, 12 from Sindh, 32 from Balochistan, and 27 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. As many as 8 candidates will contest against two seats from capital and 36 from FATA against four Senate seats.
