ISLAMABAD: Advocate General Islamabad urged the Supreme Court Monday to declare the pleas filed against 21st Constitutional Amendment non-maintainable on grounds that Parliament is a competent body to pass any Amendment.

Filing a reply in pursuance of the apex court's directives in the matter, the Advocate General Islamabad contended that the Parliament has rightly passed an Amendment to address the present spate of terrorism by establishing military courts.

A three-member bench of the apex court led by Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and comprising Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed and Justice Mashir Alam had asked the Advocate General Islamabad to submit a reply in response to the identical pleas filed by Lahore High Court Bar Association and others against the establishment of military courts and the passage of 21st Constitutional Amendment.
