ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif, who reached Russia to attend the conference on International Security, held meeting with his Russian Counterpart Sergei Shoigu and discussed matters of mutual cooperation in the field of military training, import of arms and equipments.

During the meeting held before starting the conference, they also discussed joint participation in military exercises, said a pres release issued here on Thursday.

Both sides agreed that ongoing Yemen conflict should be resolved through diplomatic means and use of force must be discouraged and abandoned.

Both sides had a consensus that a multi-polar world will ensure peace and balance in international relations.

The Russian side appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in its fight against terrorism, drug trafficking and piracy our high seas.

Khawaja Asif will hold key meetings with the Chinese Defence Minister Chang Wanquan and Iranian Defence Minister Hossein Dehghan on the sidelines of the conference.

The meeting will discuss matters of mutual and bilateral relations between the respective countries.

The ongoing situation in Yemen will be discussed to find out a peaceful settlement of the conflict.—APP
