KARACHI: The rupee maintained overnight rising trend on the currency market on Friday in the process of trading, dealers said.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: The rupee gained 15-paisa against the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 101.50 and Rs 101.55 respectively, they said.

OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee sustained overnight levels in terms of the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 102.40 and Rs 102.60 respectively, they said.

The rupee, lost 65 paisa in relation to the euro for buying and selling at Rs 110.15 and Rs 110.40, they said

In the final Asian trade, the dollar wallowed near a one-week low against a basket of major currencies and was on track for its biggest weekly drop in a month in the wake of poor US economic data.

The dollar retreated this week as a series of lacklustre indicators underscored the view that the Federal Reserve is more likely to raise interest rates later in the year than in June.

The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 62.37, the greenback was at 3.6350 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the US currency was at 6.1926 versus the Chinese yuan.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee has kept on surging for another consecutive day losing only 10-paisa in relation to the greenback on the local currency market on Friday.

Currency dealers said the dollar opened on a positive note and continued to rise following fresh buying. At close, the dollar ended further higher at Rs 102.60 and Rs 102.85 as its buying and selling rate against Rs 102.50 and Rs 102.75 of Thursday. The rupee also remained under pressure and depreciated its worth against the pound sterling, which was traded at Rs 152.50 and Rs 152.75 on buying and selling counter compared with previous closing of Rs 151.25 and Rs 151.50.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Friday.

The dollar opened at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling).

Pound Sterling opened at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling).
