ISLAMABAD: The government has finalised all the arrangements to give a red-carpet welcome to Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday (today) on his arrival in Pakistan on a two-day visit with Army to handle the overall security of his visit. The entire route from Air Port to Constitution Avenue has been decorated to give a rosy reception to the Chinese President. All the major roads of the city have also been decorated with national flags of the two countries.

Banners inscribed with slogans welcoming the Chinese President and lauding Pakistan-China friendship have been displayed on the electric poles and bridges in the way from Air port to Constitution Avenue.

President has summoned the joint sitting of the Parliament which will be addressed by the Chinese President on Tuesday. The law enforcement agencies have chalked out a comprehensive security plan for the visit and over 2,500 police officials would be deployed. There are reports that the army’s 111 Brigade will handle the overall security of the visit.

According to security plan, Expressway from Koral Chowk to Garden Chowk and Faisal Avenue up to Rescue 15 U-Turn will remain closed during specific times. Murree Road from Faizabad to Rawal Dam Chowk, Kashmir Chowk and Serena Hotel, Kashmir Highway from Peshawar Morr to Serena will remain closed during the VVIP movement. Alternate routes have been identified for the citizens of Islamabad and entry of heavy traffic will not be allowed even on alternate routes during specific times.

Constitution Avenue from Radio Pakistan to Serena hotel and Suherwardi Road from Embassy Road Serena hotel will remain closed to traffic. Ataturk Road from Serena hotel to NADRA Chowk will also remain closed. ITP has appealed to citizens to avoid traveling without any reason and cooperate with the police.
