Additional Rs157bn to be released for PSDP

ISLAMABAD: Federal government has committed to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) under the $6.64 billion Extended Fund Facility that it would release an additional Rs 157 billion in the current year for federal Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP).

The government released a total of Rs 310 billion till 24 April – 60 percent funds budgeted for PSDP and has informed the IMF under the sixth review carried out in February that it would revise it downward by Rs 58 billion – to Rs 467 billion from the budgetary allocation of Rs 525 billion, a reduction of 11 percent.

According to the latest data released by Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms, a total of Rs 39.5 billion has been released for various projects of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission, out of its total allocation of Rs 51.5 billion that was budgeted under the PSDP for financial year 2014-15. An amount of Rs 12.14 billion has been released for Higher Education Commission (HEC) out of its total budgeted allocation of Rs 20 billion whereas Rs 32.94 billion has been released for Water and Power Division (Water Sector) out of its total budgeted allocation of Rs 43.43 billion for the current fiscal year.

The government released Rs 3.5 billion for Interior Division for which Rs 3.9 billion had been earmarked in the budget of current year whereas Rs 882.7 million has been released for National Food Security and Research Division. A total of Rs 29 billion has been released for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Division out of its total budgeted Rs 27 billion. A sum of Rs 456.4 million has been released for Planning, Development and Reform Division out of Rs 25.8 billion budgeted, the data revealed.

The government released Rs 31.4 billion for Railways Division for which Rs 39.57 billion was earmarked in the PSDP of current fiscal year. An amount of Rs 2.14 billion was released for the Cabinet Division out of its total allocation of Rs 2.77 billion, whereas Rs 3.12 billion has been released for Communications Division (other then NHA) out of the budgeted Rs 3.152 billion. A sum of Rs 260 million has been released for Commerce Division out of its total allocation of Rs 363 million whereas out of the total budgeted allocation of Rs 11.9 billion for Finance Division, the government has so far released Rs 5.43 billion.

A total of Rs 36.93 billion has been released out of Rs 111.56 billion for National Highway Authority (NHA) while Rs 43.88 billion has been released for WAPDA (Power sector) for on going financial year.

The government has released Rs 71.9 million for Narcotics Control Division out of its total funds of Rs 324 million. The government also released Rs 547.999 million for Science and Technological Research Division and Rs 101.53 million for Textile Industry Division. The government released Rs 12.3 billion for AJK projects out of its budgeted allocation of Rs 12.13 billion, Rs 8.5 billion for Gilgit-Baltistan out of its total budgeted allocation of Rs 9.2 billion and Rs 13.4 billion for SAFRON/FATA out of the total budgeted at Rs 19.1billion.
