KARACHI: The rupee has managed to recover modestly against the dollar and euro on the local currency market on Tuesday, they said.

INTER-BANK MARKET RATES: The rupee inched up by two paisa versus the dollar for buying at Rs 102.02 and it also picked up four paisa for selling at Rs 102.04, they said.

OPEN MARKET RATES: The rupee also gained five paisa in relation to the dollar for buying and selling at Rs 103.30 and Rs 103.50, they said. The national currency, also extended it's gains versus the euro, rising 50 paisa more for buying and selling at Rs 113.00 and Rs 114.00, they added.

In the second Asian trade, the dollar scaled a one-month high against a basket of major currencies, having remained bid after comments from Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen reinforced a tightening bias on interest rates.

Against the yen, the dollar touched a two-month high of 121.79, edging closer to an eight-year peak above 122.04.

The dollar was trading against the Indian rupee at Rs 63.72, the US currency was at 3.6170 in terms of the Malaysian ringgit and the greenback was available at 6.2041 in relation to the Malaysian ringgit.

RUPEE IN LAHORE: The rupee has weakened against the greenback on the local currency market on Tuesday.

The dollar resumed trading at its overnight closing of Rs 103.50 and Rs 103.75 for buying and selling. Because of a slight increase in the demand, its rate moved up to Rs 103.55 and Rs 103.80 on buying and selling side.

The rupee staged a recovery and improved against the pound sterling whose buying and selling rate declined from Rs 159.50 and Rs 159.75 of Monday to Rs 159.00 and Rs 159.25.

RUPEE IN ISLAMABAD AND RAWALPINDI: The rupee-dollar parity remained unchanged at the open currency markets of Islamabad and Rawalpindi here on Tuesday.

The dollar opened at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling) against same last rate. It did not observe further change in the second session and closed at Rs 101.75 (buying) and Rs 101.85 (selling).

Pound Sterling opened at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling) against same overnight value. It did not observe further change in the evening session and closed at Rs 155 (buying) and Rs 155.50 (selling).
