UAE to be contacted in ‘a day or two’: Nisar

ISLAMABAD: Interior Min-ister Chaudhry Nisar on Friday said the government will formally contact the United Arab Emirates regarding the Axact scandal ‘in a day or two’.

“For this purpose, the Federal Intelligence Agency (FIA) has sent us a letter,” he said in a statement. Nisar said that a First Information Report (FIR) registered against Axact was not conclusive and would be finalized after more evidence is reviewed.

“We have asked for cooperation from the British government,” he said, adding that while the FIA is already in contact with Interpol, it has also sought legal assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the US.

Nisar also said that probe into the matter is under way at a fast pace. He noted that a standard procedure was not undertaken in the registration of BOL.
